Запись и микширование альбома проходили в шведской студии Abyss Studio под руководством Peter'а T?gtgren'а (Hypocrisy, Pain) в сентябре и ноябре 2002 года.
Вступление в начале первого трека "With Satan and Victorious Weapons" содержит звук из фрагмента фильма "Имя Розы" ("The Name Of The Rose", 1986 года). Это сцена со святой инквизицией и следующим диалогом:
- Because you were inspired by the devil?
- Yes… that's it. I was inspired by the devil. I'm inspired by the devil!!!
"The Funeral Is about to begin, sir!" - фраза в начале трека "Hearse", была позаимствована из фильма "Фантазм" ("Phantasm", 1979 года).
Трек "Blackcrowned" базируется на фрагмента классического произведения "Похоронная музыка для королевы Мэри" авторства Генри Пёрселла (1659-1695).
Альбом был издан шведским лейблом Blooddawn Productions и вышел в свет 24 февраля 2003 года на CD (шведская версия - кат.# BLOOD 012, и американская - кат.# BLOODNA1012), 12" виниле (1500 копий, кат.# BLOODLP 012) и 12" picture-виниле (1500 копий, кат.# BLOODPLP 012).
В том же году в России была издана лицензионная версия альбома, изданная компанией CD-Maximum (кат.# CDM 0803-1478).
В 2006 году шведский лейбл Regain Records (кат.# BLOOD 029) выпустил лимитированное в 3000 копий издание альбома "World Funeral" в виде бокс-сета с самим диском, синглом "Hearse", DVD "World Funeral at Party San 2003" и коллекционным постером. Сетлист выступления заснятого для DVD:
