To truly grasp "Aren B" you must first understand the artist himself. After an enlightening studio session years ago, a good friend of the artist, branded him with the name. Pronounced "RnB" the letters of "Aren B" were taken from his birth name "Brendan" to express the love and passion he has for the R&B Genre. Electronic/House music is also a passion of his, merging R&B vocals into dance beats. His silky smooth vocals accompanied by his romantic lyrical content have been known to be addictive, memorable and simply drive the ladies wild.
Originally from Missouri, he was able to establish a strong musical foundation at a young age, from singing in his local choir to playing drums for a traveling gospel group at the age of 12. After playing basketball in college and acquiring his BA in Visual Communications Aren B took the next step in his career, moving to New York City to pursue his dream of music. He auditioned for American Idol Season 6 in Memphis, Tennessee with 18,000 other hopefuls. Out of Memphis he and 15 others emerged with a chance to continue on to the Hollywood rounds. When asked how he felt about making it to Hollywood he added, "It was a huge accomplishment for me." He made the cut from 60 to 30, but was eliminated in the second round during the group portion of the show.
Aren B has worked with hit producers such as EMI talent Battleroy, Jai Marlon, David Hall, Erb Money, Jojo Simmons and many others. He has also written songs for artists such as Keri Hilson, Robin Thicke, Day 26 just to name a few. Legendary recording artist Al B. Sure was quoted saying, "That was the best remake of my song Night and Day I have ever heard young man. Great work," crediting Aren B for his remake of his 90's smash hit "Night and Day." Aren B has opened up for Tyrese, H-Town, Silk, Snoop, The Roots and has performed in various locations such as the Rockwood Music Hall (downtown NYC) and across the U.S. from Miami to Los Angeles. His onstage presence, and commanding new age style, has grasped the attention of audiences nationwide. "I've been inspired by several life experiences, but mostly my imagination has inspired me to write on different topics and situations while creating memorable melodies." He credits his inspiration to: God, Mother, Michael Jackson, Al B. Sure, Donnell Jones, 112, Cameo, Prince, Morris Day, Maxwell and Color Me Bad, who he claims have influenced him.
